Seismic Hazard and Site Suitability Evaluation Based on Multicriteria Decision Analysis

Effective management and planning for sustainable urban regions’ development require up-to-date information. Natural hazard maps (NHMs) creation is critical development. Urban areas along the western coast of Saudi Arabia are susceptible to natural disasters due their sources’ proximity, especially, with lack preparation. Yanbu’ Al-Bahr, a major Red Sea port, provides an excellent example. This research aims combine NHMs into single multi-hazard map, allowing acceptable site identification To create seismic model rapidly growing Al-Bahr region, spatial distributions different entities were assessed using analytical hierarchy process (AHP). six assessment independently developed. Hazard attributes assimilated geographic information system (GIS) platform delineate zones build suitability map Weight rank values determined during AHP assigned each layer its corresponding classes. By overlaying all weighted maps, was created. depicts area’s prospective appropriateness growth. Accordingly, study area classified five categories, namely, very-low (VL), low (L), moderate (M), high (H), very (VH). Therefore, limited regions, most appropriate locations, least suitable identified. stakeholders can use produced as future land-use environmental management. Furthermore, AHP-GIS would deliver more precise findings in selection studies.
